The Dream Again Reset Guide — The 7-stage method · by Erik Kingsley

A Letter From Erik

Friend,

If you are reading this, something broke. Maybe it was a marriage. A business. A calling you thought was bulletproof. Maybe it was your health, your finances, or the faith you once held so tightly. Something that mattered deeply to you fell apart, and now you are holding the pieces wondering if anything can be rebuilt.

I know that feeling. I have lived it.

There was a season in my life when everything collapsed at once. The ministry I had poured years into crumbled. Relationships I trusted shattered. Financially, I was staring at the ground. I remember sitting in the wreckage of what was supposed to be my purpose and asking God a question that felt dangerous: Is the dream dead?

The silence after that question was the loneliest sound I have ever known.

But here is what I discovered in the rubble: God does not waste ruins. He rebuilds with them. The same God who spoke the world into existence does not look at your broken pieces and walk away. He picks them up. He redesigns. And what He builds the second time is stronger, deeper, and more beautiful than what came before.

This guide exists because I believe that about your life.

The Dream Again Reset Guide is not a motivational pep talk. It is a field manual for the broken. Inside, you will find seven stages that mark the journey from devastation back to destiny. You will find scriptures that sustained me and questions that will force you to be honest with yourself. You will find a framework for daily rebuilding and a declaration that will put words in your mouth when hope has left the building.

You do not need to have it all figured out to begin. You just need to be willing to believe that your story is not over.

Because it is not.

Not even close.

Your story is not over,

Erik Kingsley

The Framework

The Dream Again Method

Every comeback follows a pattern. Whether you study the Bible, history, or the lives of people who rebuilt after loss, the same seven stages emerge. The Dream Again Method maps your journey through all of them. You are somewhere on this path right now.

1

Dream

The original vision. The calling, the promise, the future you once believed in. Every comeback begins by remembering what God put in your heart before the breaking.

2

Break

The collapse. Failure, loss, betrayal, or crisis shatters what you built. This is not the end of the story. It is the turning point that makes the rest possible.

3

Renew

The inner reset. Before you can rebuild your life, God renews your mind, your identity, and your understanding of who He made you to be. Old patterns die here.

4

Restore

God begins returning what was lost. Not always the same thing, but something better. Relationships heal. Opportunities open. The pieces start fitting together again.

5

Rebuild

Hands meet faith. This is where you put the work in: new habits, new structures, new disciplines. You build brick by brick on the foundation God has laid.

6

Arise

You step into the new version of yourself. The world begins to see what God has been building in secret. Influence returns. Confidence rises. Purpose sharpens.

7

Dream Again

The new dream is bigger than the first. What you lost becomes the testimony that fuels what you are building. The comeback is complete, and the mission is clearer than ever.

You are somewhere on this path right now.
Let us find out where, and move you forward.

1
Stage One

Dream

Every great story starts with a dream. Before the setback, before the struggle, there was a moment when something stirred inside you. A vision for your future. A calling you could feel in your chest. A whisper from God that said, I have something for you.

For some of us, that dream was ministry. For others, it was a business, a family, a creative project, or a life of impact. Whatever shape it took, it mattered. It was not random ambition or wishful thinking. It was something God planted inside you before the world had a chance to crush it.

The first stage of the Dream Again Method is remembering. Not nostalgia. Not regret. But honest remembrance of the original vision. Because you cannot rebuild what you have forgotten. The enemy does not just want to destroy your circumstances. He wants you to forget that God ever spoke to you in the first place.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

Reflection

What was the original dream God placed in your heart? Before everything fell apart, what did you believe you were called to do or become?

Action Step: Write down the dream that first set your heart on fire. Even if it feels foolish now. Even if you think the window has closed. Name it. Put it on paper. That is the first brick.

2
Stage Two

Break

Then it happened. The thing you never planned for. The phone call, the diagnosis, the betrayal, the layoff, the moment when everything you built came crashing down. The break does not send an invitation. It does not wait until you are ready. It just arrives, and suddenly the life you knew is in pieces on the ground.

If you are in this stage right now, I need you to hear something: the break is not the end. It feels like it. Every emotion in your body is telling you that it is over, that you will never recover, that you are too far gone. But the break is not your final chapter. It is the most painful chapter, yes. But not the last one.

In scripture, the breaking always precedes the breakthrough. Joseph was thrown in a pit before the palace. David was hunted in caves before the throne. Jesus was buried in a tomb before the resurrection. God does His deepest work in the darkest rooms. The break is where He gets your undivided attention.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.Psalm 34:18 NIV

Reflection

What broke? Be specific. Not to relive the pain, but to name it. What did you lose, and what part of the loss still weighs the heaviest today?

Action Step: Tell one trusted person what you are going through. Not social media. Not a vague prayer request. A real conversation with someone who will listen without fixing. Isolation is the enemy of recovery.

3
Stage Three

Renew

After the break, something unexpected happens if you let it. The noise stops. The hustle pauses. And in the stillness, God begins to do the work that could never happen while you were running at full speed. He starts renewing your mind.

Renewal is not about positive thinking or self-help mantras. It is about replacing the lies you have been living with the truth God has been speaking. Lies like: I am a failure. I will never recover. God has moved on without me. The best years are behind me. Renewal tears those lies out by the root and replaces them with identity, purpose, and the promises of scripture.

This stage is quiet. The world will not celebrate it. No one will post about it. But it is the most important work of the entire journey. Because the person who went through the break cannot build what is coming next. You need a new mind for the new season. And God is building one inside you right now.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is -- his good, pleasing and perfect will.Romans 12:2 NIV

Reflection

What lie have you been believing about yourself since the break? Write it down. Then beneath it, write the truth that God's word says about you instead.

Action Step: Choose one scripture about your identity and read it aloud every morning this week. Not once. Every morning. Let the truth of God reprogram what the break distorted.

4
Stage Four

Restore

God is in the restoration business. Not the museum business. He does not preserve your old life behind glass so you can stare at it and feel sad. He restores. He takes what was broken, damaged, and stolen, and He gives back something better. Not always the same thing. But always something greater.

Restoration does not usually show up the way we expect. We pray for the old relationship to come back, and God sends new ones that are healthier. We ask for the old job to reopen, and God opens a door we never knew existed. Restoration requires trust because it does not follow our blueprints. It follows His.

If you are waiting for restoration, pay attention. It may already be happening in ways you have not recognized yet. A conversation that shifted something. An opportunity that appeared from nowhere. A peace that settled in when you were not looking. God restores in whispers before He restores in earthquakes.

I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten -- the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm -- my great army that I sent among you.Joel 2:25 NIV

Reflection

Where do you see early signs of restoration in your life right now? What small thing has shifted, even slightly, toward hope?

Action Step: Start a restoration journal. Each night this week, write down one thing that happened that day that could be evidence of God restoring, rebuilding, or returning something to your life. Look for it, and you will find it.

5
Stage Five

Rebuild

At some point, the praying and the waiting must meet the doing. Rebuilding is where faith puts on work boots. This is the stage where you stop looking at the rubble and start laying new brick. Not recklessly. Not in your own strength. But with intention, discipline, and the daily commitment to build something that honors the God who pulled you out of the pit.

Nehemiah rebuilt the wall of Jerusalem in 52 days. Not because he was a superhero. Because he was organized, focused, and surrounded by people who believed the work mattered. Your rebuild will require the same. Clear priorities. Daily habits. People who will hold the bricks with you when your arms get tired.

Do not despise small beginnings. The first brick does not look like a wall. The first dollar does not look like a business. The first conversation does not look like a restored marriage. But every cathedral was once a single stone. Lay yours today.

"You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace." ... They replied, "Let us start rebuilding." So they began this good work.Nehemiah 2:17-18 NIV

Reflection

What is the first thing that needs to be rebuilt in your life right now? Not everything. Just the first wall. What is the most important area to start?

Action Step: Identify one daily habit that will lay a brick toward your rebuild. A morning prayer. A budget review. A workout. A conversation. Pick one, and commit to it every day for 30 days straight.

6
Stage Six

Arise

There comes a moment in the rebuild when something shifts. The weight lifts. The fog clears. You look up from the work and realize that you are no longer who you were when the break happened. Something has risen inside you, something stronger, wiser, and more deeply rooted than the version of yourself that fell apart.

Arise is the stage where the internal work becomes visible. The discipline you practiced in private begins producing results in public. People start noticing. Doors start opening. Influence starts returning. Not because you chased it, but because God honors what is built with integrity in the secret place.

This stage requires courage. It is tempting to stay hidden, to keep your head down, to play small because the last time you were visible, you got hurt. But arising is not arrogance. It is obedience. God did not rebuild you so you could stay in the basement. He rebuilt you so you could shine.

Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.Isaiah 60:1 NIV

Reflection

What fear is keeping you from stepping into the new season God has prepared? What would you do if you knew you would not be hurt again?

Action Step: Do one thing this week that the old, broken version of you would never have done. Accept an invitation. Share your story. Launch the idea. Take one step that signals to the world and to yourself: I have arisen.

7
Stage Seven

Dream Again

This is why the journey exists. Not just to survive the break. Not just to get back to where you were. But to arrive at a place where God gives you a brand new dream. One that is bigger, deeper, and more aligned with His purposes than the original ever was.

Dream Again is the moment when the pain of the past becomes the fuel for the future. Your story, the mess, the failure, the loss, becomes the very thing that qualifies you to help someone else. The pit you were in becomes the platform you preach from. The wound becomes the wisdom. The scar becomes the sermon.

If you have made it this far in the guide, I want you to know: God is not finished with you. The new dream is already forming. You may not be able to see it clearly yet, but it is there. And it will require everything you learned in the first six stages to bring it to life. Nothing was wasted. Every tear counted. Every sleepless night mattered. It was all preparation for what is coming next.

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.Isaiah 43:19 NIV

Reflection

If fear, money, and other people's opinions were not factors, what would you build next? What is the new dream that has been forming in the quiet?

Action Step: Write down the new dream. Not a business plan. Not a five-year strategy. Just the seed. What is God putting in your heart for the next chapter? Write it, date it, and keep it where you can see it every day.

The Daily System

The BRICK Framework

Comebacks are not built in a single moment of inspiration. They are built one day at a time. The BRICK Framework is your daily rebuild system, five commitments that turn every ordinary day into a brick in the wall of your new life. Stack enough bricks, and you will not recognize where you started.

B

Believe

Start every day by reaffirming that God's promise is still active over your life. The circumstances may not have changed yet, but the promise has not moved. Belief is not the absence of doubt. It is the decision to trust God in the middle of it.

"Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." -- Hebrews 11:1
R

Routine

Discipline is the bridge between where you are and where you are going. Build a daily routine that aligns with the dream: morning prayer, exercise, skill-building, margin for rest. Your routine is the architecture of your comeback.

"The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty." -- Proverbs 21:5
I

Invest

Put your time, money, and energy into what actually matters. Stop spending resources on distractions, comforts, and dead-end pursuits. Every hour and every dollar is a seed. Plant them in soil that will produce the harvest you are believing for.

"Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let your hands not be idle." -- Ecclesiastes 11:6
C

Commit

Stay when it gets hard. The rebuild is not glamorous. There will be days when you want to quit, when the progress feels invisible, when the old pain resurfaces. Commitment is the decision to keep building even when you do not feel like it.

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." -- Galatians 6:9
K

Keep Going

Consistency is the currency of comeback. One good day will not change your life. Ninety good days will transform it. Keep going when it is boring. Keep going when it is thankless. Keep going when no one is watching. The wall is being built.

"I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." -- Philippians 3:14
Speak This Over Your Life

The Dream Again Declaration

I declare that my story is not over.

What was broken is being rebuilt.
What was stolen is being restored.
What was buried is rising again.

I am not defined by my worst season.
I am not disqualified by my greatest failure.
I am not forgotten by the God who called me.

The pit was not my permanent address.
The valley was not my final destination.
The fire did not consume me -- it refined me.

I choose to believe again.
I choose to build again.
I choose to dream again.

The dream God gave me is still alive.
And the new dream is bigger than the first.

Your comeback starts now.
